Seniors

As this year is full of exciting and important events, we would like to share some important information with you regarding Senior Activities & Events. Please see the information below pertaining to specific events for our seniors:

GRADUATION - Friday, June 12, 2026 at 9:00 am - $95 per student

The graduation fee includes four guest tickets, program, cap and gown with tassel, diploma case, yearbook and senior backpack. Our graduation ceremony will be held in the Lou Carnesecca Arena at St. John's University located at 8000 Utopia Parkway, Queens, NY 11439.  Students should arrive at 7:45 am and report to the Little Theater next to Carnesecca Hall.  Guests should arrive between 8-8:30 am. Do NOT bring balloons to the ceremony. To request additional tickets, complete this form. Be advised - as per NYC academic policy: Middle school students must meet promotion benchmarks to participate in their school’s moving up ceremonies such as graduation. Students not passing their core classes (ELA, Math, Science & Social Studies) and not being promoted cannot participate in this ceremony. 

SENIOR AWARD CEREMONY - Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 9:00 am - By Invitation Only - 

Our 8th grade award ceremony will be held in the Russell Sage school yard.  Only students and families of those receiving an award need be present for this ceremony.

SENIOR ACTIVITIES - OPTIONAL

As a reminder, Senior Activities are a privilege and not a right.  Students who have not complied with the Code of Conduct of the New York City Department of Education, Russell Sage JHS school rules, have not met academic standards by failing any course work, are late to class or have excessive latenesses and/or absences, may be denied from senior activities.

1. Senior Trip - Lake Compounce - Thursday, May 28, 2026 - $120 per student

• Coach Bus transportation and lunch included
• DUE: Wednesday - April 15, 2026

2. Prom - Villa Russo in Richmond Hill - Wednesday, June 3, 2026 - $78 per student

• Buffet dinner, DJ, Photobooth, and a night full of dancing fun 
• DUE: Wednesday, May 13, 2026
• All Payments may be paid by Cash or Money Order (made out to Russell Sage JHS 190) and placed in a sealed envelope with your child’s name and class on it and permission slip(s).
  NO PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  All students will receive a receipt after payment.
• Each event must be a separate payment. Please refer to due dates.
  These dates are hard deadlines. NO EXCEPTIONS - we need to order tickets and buses. 
• All payments may be given to Dr. Meneses (Room 207) on Monday - Friday in the morning between 7:30 and 8:00 am.  No payments will be accepted during the day or after school. A receipt for the payment will be issued.  Please retain the receipt for your records. Any extra/unused funds will go towards activites for the Class of 2026. NO REFUNDS!
• Permission slips must be completed and signed when submitting payment. Copies will be available in 207, Rm. 140B and the Main Office.

Senior Sweatshirts & T-shirts

Students & Families of the Class of 2026 - We’re thrilled to announce that senior apparel is now available for purchase! 🎉

👕 Class of 2026 T-Shirt - This shirt was sold last year as our trip shirt and will be used for our Senior Trip. If you’d like to purchase one, the cost is $8.

🧥 Senior Hoodie - Show your senior pride with our official hoodie! The cost is $30.

📍 How to Purchase - You may buy your items in Room 207 between 7:30–8:00 AM. Your child will receive the t-shirt and/or hoodie along with a receipt. 

💡 Extra Funds - Any extra or unused funds will go toward activities for the Class of 2026.
